If jaehyun's singing that to me, asking me to be his girlfriend, his "forever only", would I dare say no? With the soft yet crisp guitar arpeggiations and RnB-esque percussion accentuating his deep, earthed vocals, this song would easily be my ride or die.

Not even going to lie, if Jaehyun was ever going to have a solo, even if it's part of the "NCT LAB" project, it would be nothing short of an RnB or acoustic ballad track. It's 100% non-representative of the type of music NCT 127 puts out but that's relieving because this style definitely suits him and brings out his personality more in a way! Not to mention the imminent songwriting and composition skills? He's definitely solid soloist material and this just substantialises it.

Forever Only embodies his softer, richer vocals, rich in timbre and emotion. Talking about how lonely he's been, and how he longs to have the girl of his dreams back.. really just touches the heart and back and also just proves that a vocalist doesn't need to be able to reach complicated and high notes to have a successful solo song. It sounds like something I'd hear in a restaurant while eating; it's very laid back and the guitar arpeggiations throughout the song add a very toned melodic line to the song, having the effect of keeping the listener in check throughout the listening experience.

Are we excited to see more of lyricist, composer and RnB artist Jeong Jaehyun in the future? Count me in!
